KUCHING: Sarawak Rivers Board (SRB) plans to set up a council to monitor river safety in the state, in line with the Sarawak government’s objective to establish a Safety Council committee for all aspects, including road safety and river safety.
Transportation Assistant Minister Datuk Dr Jerip Susil told reporters this after launching the River Safety and Cleanliness Campaign and Sarawak Rivers Board’s 25th anniversary at Kuching Waterfront yesterday.

KUCHING: The villagers in Mambong should take the initiative to organise environmental and health clean-up activities for their areas.
In making this call, Assistant Minister of Transportation Datuk Dr Jerip Susil said all households in this constituency – where he is the assemblyman – must ensure that their compounds are not waterlogged and any unused containers, which could become potential breeding grounds for the Aedes mosquito, are removed.

KUCHING: Assistant Minister of Transportation Datuk Dr Jerip Susil made a visit to several villages in the Mambong constituency to assess the damage caused by the incessant rain that had been hitting the area for over a week.
The villages that he visited together with his special officer Robert Keron, state administrative officer Rangen Jamang and Penghulu Richard Daho were Kampung Bratan, Kampung Punau, Kampung Bunuk, Kampung Giam Lama, Kampung Nusaraya, Kampung Kiding and Kampung Sepit.

All Landfills To Be Fitted With Scada System — Penguang

SIBU: Two landfills in the state have been fitted with the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (Scada) system, with others awaiting allocations to have the system put in place.
According to Assistant Minister of Local Government Datu Dr Penguang Manggil, the two landfills with Scada are the one in Sibuti here and another in Mambong in Kuching.
It is learnt that there are eight landfills in the state – Mambong, Kemunyang (Sibu), Sibuti, Tebedu, Lubok Antu, Engkilili, Meradong and Limbang.

KUCHING: The state Ministry of Transport hopes to complete a comprehensive data and statistics on all forms of transportation soon to come up with a master plan to inculcate in all strata of society, safety measures on land, air and river transport.

KUCHING: The setting up of a cultural centre for the Biannah Bidayuhs gets the backing from Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah.

BAU: The bridge across Sungai Tringgus will be declared open before the Gawai celebration as it is now 95 per cent completed.
Construction of the 42.67 metre bridge costing RM600,000 started last December , Serembu assemblyman Miro Simuh told reporters when met after visiting the bridge.
“Over 1,500 residents from villages such as Kampung Bong, Kampung Matan Nguan and Kampung Rabak Rotan had to use a bamboo bridge before, and the worry for safety of the residents over the bridge condition will be over soon,” said Miro.
