Apply to be Recognized as Sarawak Natives

This service is for the application to be recognized as a native of Sarawak.  A minor may apply through one of his/her parents/guardians.  

The recognization of Sarawak native is governed by Schedule to Section 3 of the Interpretation (Amendment) Ordinance, 2022 and the approving authority is by the State Secretary through Sarawak Native Recognition Committee (NRC).
The conditions for a person to be recognized as a native of Sarawak are as follows:
 
  1. A Malaysian citizen;
  2. A natural born child of a race indigenous to Sarawak; and
  3. One of his/her parents is a person of a race indigenous to Sarawak.
If the application is made by one of his parents/guardians for a minor,  the application must be signed on behalf of the minor by the parent/guardian

Application must be completed with the following supporting documents (Certified True Copy):

1. Applicant:
  1. NRIC
  2. Birth Certificate
  3. Passport Size Photo
 
2  Natural father:
  1. NRIC/ Passport
  2. Birth Certificate (If Sarawak natives, the certificate must be stated with race indicator)
  3. Extract of Death Certificate (if applicable)
 
3. Natural mother:
  1. NRIC/ Passport
  2. Birth Certificate (If Sarawak natives, the certificate must be stated with race indicator)
  3. Extract of Death Certificate (if applicable)


Submit the application online through Sarawak Government Portal (www.sarawak.gov.my).
RM 100 will be charged for eligible application and it is non-refundable

  1. Applicant needs to have SarawakID or to register his/her SarawakID
  2. The recognition decision is under the authority of the Sarawak Government
