The recent salary revision for members of the civil service, which gives
higher increments to those in the lower levels is to ensure that they do not
fall below the poverty line Index(PLI), the level of poverty, which should

has been achieved through uninterrupted development since independence
and should serve as an indicator of the success of our common struggle not
only to contain, but eradicate poverty among the people.
