SARAWAK GAZETTE 13
My eyes were attracted to the half-concrete two
storey shophouses (see photographs 3 and 4).
What caught my eyes were the Malay curved roof
fascia (for further notes and comparison see
Lucas Chin. Cultural Heritage of Sarawak, 1980) .
Note also the protruding TV aerials the speak of
modernisation that has become a common phenomena
in rural areas in Sarawak.
Photograph 5 shows the jetty where passengers
and goods leave and arrive at Trusan. The PWD
trucks in the foreground are carrying away gravel
from the lug boat.
I must admit that my photographs of Trusan
Bazaar have little aesthetic value but I hope they
would be preserved in the Sarawak Gazette for their
historical and cultural values.
