TYT Sarawak Pays Visit To Late Wife’s Tomb

KUCHING: His Excellency Tuan Yang Terutama (TYT) Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sarawak Tun Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar visited the grave of his late wife, the late Datin Sri Fiona Sim Abdullah @ Norjanah Wan Junaidi shortly after arriving in Kuching on Saturday.

Accompanying him at the Samariang Islamic Cemetery was his wife, Toh Puan Sri Fauziah Mohd Sanusi along with other family members.

Earlier, his arrival at Kuching International Airport (KIA) at 11am was welcomed by Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Abdul Rahman Zohari Tun Datuk Abang Openg together with Deputy Premiers of Sarawak Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas and Datuk Amar Awang Middle Ali Hasan, Sarawak Government Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki and other dignitaries.

After visiting his late wife’s grave, he was scheduled to perform the Zohor prayer at the Jamek Mosque together with the Chief Imam of Sarawak, Sahibul Fadilah Dato Mustapha Kamal Ahmad Fauzi, the Deputy Chief Imam of Sarawak, Ustaz Mohammad Ihsan Haidzir and other dignitaries.

Also present was the Chief Executive Officer of the Sarawak State Mosque Welfare Trust Board (LKMNS) Datuk Abang Abdul Wahap Abang Julai.

Tun Dr Wan Junaidi received the letter of appointment from the Yang Di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah Ibni Al Marhum Sultan Ahmad Shah at Istana Negara on Friday.

Upon receiving the appointment certificate, he was also awarded the country’s highest award, the Seri Maharaja Mangku Negara (SSM) which carries the title of Tun.

Tun Dr Wan Junaidi who was the former Speaker of the National Assembly was appointed as the eighth Speaker of the State of Sarawak with effect from 26 January 2024 to replace Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud.

He will be sworn in at the Oath-taking Ceremony of the President of Sarawak in the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly next Monday. – UKASnews
