KUCHING: The Sarawak Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SSPCA) Christmas Charity Bazaar was another example of multi-cultural harmony, displaying Sarawak’s inherent ability to put differences aside and work together for a cause.

There to launch the annual bazaar, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Nancy Shukri said that this level of tolerance and acceptance is something we have been practising since before it became a slogan.

“SSPCA has been very active in promoting good values in life through various programmes, including fund raising activities to alleviate the suffering of abused and neglected animals,” she said.

It was very heartening to see the support the community put into SSPCA by setting up stalls and selling what they can to raise funds, Nancy added.

She also announced a pledge of RM20,000 to SSPCA to run their activities next year.

Meanwhile, SSPCA president Dona Drury-Wee said that fund raising activities continues as they await Land and Survey department to allocate a piece of land for the anticipated Animal Village.

“Next year, we will have an international conference, Asia for Animals, which will be held over five days just before the WAG Music Festival.

“We hope to attract 500 international delegates and 200 local participants, and we are calling for volunteers now.”
The bazaar was held at the Christian Ecumenical Worship Centre in Jalan Stampin here.

Second-hand books were among the items available at the Christmas Charity Bazaar.
